You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises. -
I am an out-of-network provider for most insurance companies. I do not bill insurance on your behalf but can provide you with a superbill if you would like to pursue potential out-of-network reimbursement with your insurance.
I am in-network with Kaiser Permanente in Oregon. -
Choosing to pay for therapy services privately can offer several benefits. When insurance is billed, providers are generally required to assign a mental health diagnosis for reimbursement purposes. Some clients prefer to keep their care separate from their medical record and avoid having a diagnosis documented as part of a pre-existing condition.
Private pay also places you in control of your treatment decisions. You are able to work with the therapist you believe is the best fit for you or your family, without limitations related to insurance networks or session caps. This approach allows for greater flexibility in how often you attend sessions and how long you remain in therapy, based on your individual needs and goals.
I am an out-of-network provider and do not file insurance claims on behalf of clients. If you choose to pursue potential reimbursement directly with your insurance company, I can provide a detailed receipt upon request.

Therapy does involve a financial commitment, but many clients view it as an investment in their personal growth, emotional well-being, and relationships. Beginning therapy often reflects a readiness to create meaningful and lasting change.
My approach is intentional and goal-focused. Rather than encouraging ongoing treatment without clear direction, I work collaboratively with clients to develop insight and practical skills that support progress beyond the therapy room. We begin by identifying clear, measurable goals, check in regularly to ensure therapy remains helpful, and define what success looks like for you so you’ll know when you’re ready to conclude therapy.
If cost is a concern, some clients explore options such as using pre-tax health accounts or consulting a tax professional about possible deductions for out-of-pocket healthcare expenses. Many find that the long-term benefits of therapy outweigh the emotional cost of delaying support.
